New Candidate for 9th District

A U.S. Naval veteran is running against Kenny Hulshof for the 9th district congressional seat. Duane Burghard, a democrat from Columbia, campaigned in Hannibal today. He has some help from former congressman, Herold Volkmer. Burghard says his biggest concern is over spending.

"The last two presidents to balance the budget were Clinton and Kennedy, and yet, the Republicans are the ones who gained fame by saying the government is too big, it spends too much, and it's too much a part of our lives," said Duane Burghard.

Burghard quit his job as the CEO of a computer company to campaign. He has no opposition in the August primary.
